Happy 2nd Birthday Addison!!
Oh how I love the Dora Cake!! I am super proud of it!! I went to Knoxville and got some edible sugar decorations and they really made this cake pop!! I love the 3D effect it gave the cake. I was a little hesitant to do this cake green and blue, but I think it turned out very girly and adorable with all of the add on decorations. The clouds were white fondant pieces with buttercream icing stacked on them. And I am pretty sure Miss Addison was pleased!!
Happy 1st Birthday Cash!!
Blue and Silver Wedding Shower Cake
This was a wedding shower cake for my friend Heather. The brides colors are blue and silver, so I accented with the silver balls and did all of the accents in fondant. This was also the first time that I tried to make the fondant bow on top.
Cake
Bottom layer - (1) 8"inch x 3"
Top layer - (1) 6"inch x 3"
Diaper Baby Cake!!
My business manager, Kim :) wanted a special cake to say Thank You to all of the wonderful ladies she works with (I can say that b/c they were all great when they helped bring my little ones into this world). So, what would be a more appropriate cake for the Labor and Delivery and Post Partum nurses...this cute little baby of course!! This was the first time that I did a chocolate cake with chocolate icing and a strawberry cake with cream cheese buttercream. All of my other cakes have had a buttercream icing (thanks Nana!) in between the cake and fondant. I have done this cake one other time and changed the colors and ribbon around for a girl, so there are lots of different options for this! Such a cute and different cake for a baby shower.
Cake
The baby's head is an 8"inch x 3" and the baby's body is a 10"inch x 3". All accents are fondant.
Tyler's 1st Birthday Party...Take 2!!
My First Official "Customer"
Okay, so first a big thanks to Paige for my being my first official "customer"!! So, I was extremely nervous and excited to do this cake!! Well, probably more nervous, so much that I almost called a local bakery and ordered a cake just to have one on standby incase mine was a flop...but I managed to pull thru!! So, yes I am going to toot my own horn, again I know, I LOVE THIS CAKE!!! The colors turned out so fabulous and it is just...PINK!!! Although, as with every cake, there is a learned experience - so here is my disclaimer. Don't put the cakes in ANY areas where they are going to be exposed to sunlight for a long period of time time...Paige and I learned the hard way. By the time her shower came time, all of the hot pinks were now pale :( but atleast we have the fabulous photos :)!!!
Tyler's 1st Birthday Party Cake...Take 1!!
So, there are all kinds of cute little barnyard cakes online, so of course I set out to do one for my nephews First Birthday!! Now, I must confess - I find most...well probably all of my ideas online and then try to mimick it. It does not always work out :) So, here is Tyler's first birthday cake for his party in Knoxville. I learned from this that my letters need to be smaller!!
Cake
Bottom Layer - (1) 10"inch x 2" white cake with almond extract
Middle Layer - (1) 8" inch x 3" chocolate cake
Top Layer - (1) 6" inch x 3" white cake almond extract
Another Practice Cake
Okay, so this was yet another practice cake - this stuff is tough!! So, by this time I had tried to work on getting my decorations thinner and I purchased some 3" inch deep pans. I just like the look of the taller cakes. I didn't do anything with the top layer on this one because quite frankly little William was tired of being in his highchair watching Mommy make a mess in the kitchen!! I do have to say that I try very hard to get these cakes straight, but as you can tell from some of the photos they seem to have a leaning effect sometimes or a "hole" - so let me explain. I am working with flimsy cake that does not always work with me :(!! But, I do try my best to make them look the best I can...please just remember, this is my hobby and I am by no means great at this...yet :)!! Also, this was my first attempt at a 3 tiered cake!

Eggs & Olives??
Okay, so I had extra fondant and gave it another try. I thought it looked okay, but my business manager :) Kim said the words to describe it...egg yolks and olives. Well, my bubble was busted!! But, she was very right!! The colors were all wrong and the decorations were way to thick. Although, I do like the idea of the decorations with the open circles and stacked circles...so done correctly, this cake could look great!!

Bottom layer - (1) 8"inch x 2" white cake
Top layer - (2) 6" inch x 2" white cake
